Alex Mandák Shines Again in Melilla – Strong 29th Place Finish Among Juniors and a Solid Relay Performance
Slovak triathlete Alex Mandák built on his success from last year in Melilla, Spain, once again proving his progress among Europe’s junior triathlon elite. At this year’s Europe Triathlon Sprint and Relay Championships Melilla 2025, held on July 19-20, he competed in two events – the individual sprint triathlon and the mixed relay.
On Saturday, July 19, Alex lined up in the junior category of the individual sprint triathlon. In a highly competitive field, he delivered a determined performance and finished in an excellent 29th place. This result also earned him qualification for the Junior World Championships, which will take place in October 2025 in Wollongong, Australia (wollongongtriathlon.com).
On Sunday, July 20, Alex also represented Slovakia in the junior mixed relay. Together with his teammates, they delivered a well-coordinated team performance, finishing in a solid 12th place.
Strong Motivation for the Season Ahead
“I didn’t quite hit the mark I set for myself, but I’m proud to have secured P29 and a spot at the World Champs in Australia. Time to learn, level up, and go again,” Alex said after the race.
Alex Mandák’s participation confirms that Slovak triathlon has another young athlete with strong international potential. Step by step, he is proving that he possesses not only physical ability, but also the determination and focus needed to reach the world’s top level. His qualification for the World Championships in Australia marks another important milestone on that journey.
