MASAM & Trimill – Friction Stir Welding (FSW)

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) technology was the main focus of a professional training session held on April 4, 2025, at the TRIMILL facility in Zlín. The event was organized in cooperation between MASAM and TRIMILL, aiming to deepen knowledge and exchange expertise in this advanced method of  friction stir welding.

Participants had the opportunity to explore the fundamental principles of the FSW process, including the thermal and mechanical effects during welding and the influence of process parameters on weld quality. The training also covered a detailed analysis of the weld joint’s microstructure, material flow behavior, and practical applications of the technology – especially in machining aluminum alloys and composites.

The program also featured discussions on the technical requirements for FSW equipment and tools – including specific applications and development solutions from MASAM, which were presented in detail to the participants.
