MASAM & Trimill – Friction Stir Welding (FSW)

The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) technology was the main topic of a professional training event held on April 4, 2025, at the premises of TRIMILL in Zlín. The event was organized through the collaboration of the companies MASAM and TRIMILL and was focused on deepening knowledge and exchanging experiences in this field. Special thanks go to STU MTF in Trnava, whose participation contributed with the latest insights into this advanced method of friction stir welding.

Participants had the opportunity to explore the fundamental principles of the FSW process, including the thermal and mechanical effects during welding and the influence of process parameters on weld quality. The training also covered a detailed analysis of the weld joint’s microstructure, material flow behavior, and practical applications of the technology – especially in machining aluminum alloys and composites.

The program also featured discussions on the technical requirements for FSW equipment and tools – including specific applications and development solutions from MASAM, which were presented in detail to the participants.

The training brought inspiring insights into the use of FSW technology in modern production and supported a professional discussion on innovations in the field of welding and metalworking.
